Croydon is one of the busiest retail and business centres in the south of England outside of Central London.  It has the largest population of any London Borough and its success as a regional centre very much depends upon the way its day-to-day traffic, highway, parking and road safety issues are managed.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and well organised officer to carry out collision investigation and prevention measures for the road safety team within the wider Highway section.

You will have a degree or ONC/HNC in civil engineering (or equivalent engineering qualification) and be able to demonstrate experience in compiling collision statistics, investigating their causes, and designing and implementing suitable traffic, road safety and highway improvement schemes.

The post holder will also manage and interrogate the injury collision record database, visit and assess collision sites, prepare funding bids, carry out road safety audits, and produce road safety and other safety related plans.

The post holder is required to manage their workload and provide stakeholders with a professional and efficient service.  You will possess both good project management skills and be able to deliver highway improvement projects on time and to budget.

You must be computer literate and have experience in the use of AutoCad and geographic information systems.

You will also have excellent oral and written skills, the ability to work on your own initiative and be able to represent the section and authority at internal and external meetings.  You should also have a current driving licence, or be able to travel quickly and efficiently around the Borough by other means.

This is a key post within the Public Realm Division of the PlaceDepartment.
