Purpose of the Job

Developing, preparing and delivering a wide range of road safety, traffic management and highway engineering training courses at venues throughout the UK, Ireland and occasionally overseas. 

Specific Duties

  • The delivery of training courses throughout the UK, Ireland and occasionally overseas (please refer to the website for a comprehensive list of our training course portfolio). Due to the diverse training locations, significant amounts of travel and time staying away from home are part of this role 
  • Assisting with the development of new and existing training courses 
  • Preparation of material for training courses 
  • Development of vocational qualifications, competency certification with respect to TMS training courses 
  • Maintaining and developing wide and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of transportation, traffic management, road safety and highway engineering issues 
  • Undertaking Road Safety Audits and other work when required

The successful applicant should have the following skills and qualities 

  • Smart appearance, clear spoken communications with friendly and outgoing personality and good interpersonal skills 
  • Hardworking and conscientious, reliable and flexible 
  • Strong communication skills, able to liaise with colleagues and customers on a daily basis 
  • Trainers often run courses on their own so the desire and ability to present technical subjects is a key factor 
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines. Good prioritisation skills are essential 
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, taking control of nominated areas of responsibility 
  • Team worker who actively contributes towards resolution of problems and improvements to processes within team environment 
  • Good organisational, planning and office administration skills 
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word/Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Experience in road safety engineering, highway inspection and maintenance, highway design and traffic policing are all helpful 
  • Knowledge of current Road Safety issues, Highway Design Standards and Traffic Engineering and Traffic Management is desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of Transport Assessments/Statements, AutoCAD and computer modelling e.g. ARCADY, PICADY, OSCADY is desirable 
  • To carry out Road Safety Audits in accordance with GG 119 (preferably Team Leader status, otherwise Team Member) is desirable 

NB: This role would suit full or part-time candidates and whilst experience is an advantage, training will be given for the right candidate.
