TTC issues CPC reminder for professional drivers
The TTC Group is urging professional drivers to enrol on the mandatory Driver CPC qualification (Certificate of Professional Competence) warning that time is of the essence.
TTC says that take up has been slow since the qualification was introduced by the EU more than two years ago to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV and PCV drivers.
Simon Baugh, director of TTC Automotive, said: “Drivers of buses and coaches have until 2013, and HGV drivers until 2014, to complete 35 hours of training or they will not be allowed to drive professionally and could lose their livelihood.”
Jill Lewis, director of driver education and learning at the Driving Standards Agency, said: “It’s really important for drivers to start organising the periodic training they need to complete their Driver CPC sooner rather than later in their five year cycle. If they leave it late they run the serious risk of not being able to become qualified in time.”
