Regional venues required for Foundation Course
The Road Safety GB Academy is looking for regional venues for three more of its Road Safety Practitioner Foundation Courses to be held later this year.
The Road Safety Practitioner Foundation Course delivers the basic skills, knowledge, and understanding required to deliver a road safety intervention.
The course, which was developed during 2013 by The Academy in partnership with Ian Edwards, provides participants with an overview of the whole process from identifying a road safety issue, to developing an intervention and through to evaluation.
The course comprises four days of tailored face-to-face learning delivered in two, two-day sessions. Between these sessions participants are required to complete an assignment relating to the topic covered in the initial session. A final assignment, which forms the final assessment, has to be completed four weeks after the second session.
The Academy is keen to deliver the courses in many different regions of the UK in order to make it as easy as possible for people to attend the course in their local area.
To date, the course has been staged in south east and south west England. It is currently being delivered in the East Midlands and will be delivered in Scotland during April/May 2014.
The Academy has also been awarded a contract by TfL to deliver six of the the four-day courses in London between now and the end of 2014. Anyone working for a London borough who is interested in attending one of the TfL-funded courses should contact Christine Fitzgerald for more information or to book a place.
The available dates for the course are between September and November 2014.
The Academy also has vacancies for training development officers in several parts of the UK.
For further information about hosting a course, or about the TDO role, contact Cheryl Evans, the Academy’s head of training, on (01635) 519984.
