Evaluation training sessions deliver required outcomes
RoSPA has published an evaluation report relating to three road safety ETP training sessions it ran during the first quarter of 2014.
35 road safety professionals attended the the three training events – in the eastern, south east and midlands regions – which were designed to raise awareness of the DfT’s road safety evaluation website and the E-valu-it toolkit which sits on the website.
Christina Brown, RoSPA’s road safety evaluation officer, said: “The training sessions we provided aimed to develop the skills of ETP practitioners in conducting effective evaluations, and to improve their skills in using the E-valu-it Toolkit.”
The key learning outcomes from the sessions were: understanding of key evaluation terms; writing aims and objectives for an ETP intervention; constructing a logic model for an ETP intervention; writing questions for use in an ETP evaluation; and confidence to evaluate own ETP interventions, using E-valu-it.
The evaluation report says: “It is clear that the training achieved its objectives with regard to the specific learning outcomes.
“Participants registered at least a one point or 20% improvement in their scores in every item. With regard to the use of the (E-valu-it) toolkit and (constructing ) logic models, their scores increased by more than two points or 40%."
