Radio presenter shares learning to ride experience

Thursday 29th May 2014

A local radio presenter in Newcastle is sharing his experiences in learning to ride a motorbike as part of the motorcycle industry’s Get On initiative.

Stu Elmore, Metro and TFM drive-time presenter, is sharing his journey through CBT and bike test to finally getting on his two-wheel dream machine - with the help and support of Newcastle Motorcycles and REALRIDER®.

REALRIDER® is a route recording Smartphone App, that monitors a ride and, in the event of a crash, sends the last known location and medical details directly to the NHS Ambulance Control Room.

The project, ‘Stu on a Bike’, started on 27 May when the presenter took to a motorcycle for the first time on a two-day CBT course.

Stu’s progress will be captured on film, with clips being released at each stage. He will blog about his experiences, and his instructor will share his thoughts on how Stu is getting on.

Craig Smith, Newcastle Motorcycles, said: “We’re delighted to be able to help Stu get on a bike.

“What’s even more reassuring is that with some great new technology in the REALRIDER® App, we can send riders on their way knowing that once we’ve given them necessary skills to get on a bike, someone else will be watching their back for the rest of their journey.”

Andrew Richardson, REALRIDER® director, said: “We hope that Stu will never have need of our App, but it’s peace of mind in his pocket, especially for his family, while he continues to master his craft.”

St on a Bike culminates on 27-29 June at the Metro Radio Arena, when wannabe riders will be invited to try a free ride courtesy of the motorcycle industry’s Get On scheme.

REALRIDER®
The REALRIDER® App is free to download with REALroutes® and REALbenefits. A premium App subscription for 12-months REALsafe® crash detection cover retails at £25. The REALRIDER® App is available on iPhone and Android. REALsafe® is available in the UK only.
