The seventh annual Cycle to Work Day takes place today (15 August), aiming to highlight the benefits of active commuting – including increased productivity and improved wellbeing.

Established in 2012 by Cyclescheme, a leading UK cycle to work provider, Cycle to Work Day is free for participants and is supported by organisations including Sustrans, Cycling UK and British Cycling.

More than 400,000 miles pledged by participants taking part in Cycle to Work Day 2018.

Those who pledged to ride have been entered into a prize draw, with prizes including two specialist Sirrus Elite bikes and one Cannondale trail three mountain bike.

Employers are also being encouraged to show their support by organising events such as a ‘bike breakfast’, inviting a local cycle retailer on-site to host an event or by planning a ‘ride in’ on Cycle to Work Day.

To help employers participate, Cyclescheme has produced an event pack containing resources, ideas and incentives. Further resources are also available via the Cycle to Work Day website.

The event is being promoted on social media, using the hashtag #Cycletoworkday.
