Stage set for 2014 National Conference

Monday 24th November 2014

More than 270 road safety professionals will make their way to Brighton tomorrow for the 2014 National Road Safety Conference (25-26 Nov), making this year’s conference the largest in the event’s seven year history.

The conference has been fully subscribed for almost a fortnight, as is the exhibition that runs alongside it.

The two-day event is being hosted by Road Safety GB South East region and co-sponsored by Colas, AA DriveTech and the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership.

The conference will comprise 32 presentations and three discussion sessions across the main programme and fringe event. The agenda includes sessions focusing on cycling, partnership working, the use of social media in road safety communications and automated driving.

The speaker and panelist line up includes representatives from the DfT, PACTS, ACPO, CFOA, the AA, Road Safety GB, TfL, Thatcham Research, TRL, RoadSafe, academic institutions, the private sector and a number of local authority road safety teams, police and fire services.

Attendees include delegates from all four UK countries as well as the Republic of Ireland and Romania.

We will bring live updates from the conference hall on this newsfeed throughout the two days, from the time the conference commences at 1.00pm on Tuesday 25 November.

I would strongly recommend that everybody attending the conference goes to the presentations that will be given by Dr Elaine Hardy and of course the Biker Down presentation given by Jim Sanderson. You'll learn a great deal from these people.
