Drug drive workshop places still available

Wednesday 11th March 2015

There are still a few places available for road safety practitioners to attend a drug driving awareness workshop organised by Road Safety GB London region.

The workshop comes on the back of new drug driving legislation introduced earlier this month. It will be held in central London on 16 April, and be led by Liam Watson from Drugs Training.com, an independent agency providing training for professional groups on a wide range of drug issues.

The workshop will cover topics including: the latest trends in drug use; the prevalence of ‘drug driving’ and the effects of drugs on driving; the new drug driving laws; how the police detect illegal drugs; and issues relating to prescription drugs and the law.

The programme will include presentations from the Metropolitan Police Service and Natasha and Michaela Groves, the mother and aunt of Lillian Groves who, since her death in 2010, have campaigned tirelessly to introduce ‘Lillian’s Law’ and roadside drug testing.

Carol Walker, administrator for Road Safety GB London Region, said: “We’ve timed the workshop to take place the day after Young Driver Focus 2015 which is being held in London on 15 April, to enable people from outside London to consider staying over and attending this workshop.”

The delegate fee for the workshop is £95 (no VAT). Contact Carol Walker for more details or to book to attend.
