Stage set for 2016 National Road Safety Conference
A new record number of road safety professionals will travel to Bristol over the next two days for the 2016 National Road Safety Conference (15-16 Nov).
The Conference - organised and hosted by Road Safety GB South West and co-sponsored by Colas, Jenoptik Traffic Solutions, Insure the Box and Jacobs - will see 314 delegates descend on the Bristol Marriott Hotel City Centre, a handful more than the previous record set at last year’s event.
Taking the theme 'Bridging the gap between evidence and practice', the conference will comprise 33 presentations from more than 40 speakers across the main agenda and fringe programme. 24 organisations will participate in the exhibition which runs alongside the conference.
Jeremy Phillips, Road Safety GB director of research and chair of the 2016 National Conference committee, said: “For 2016 we have divided the programme into three principal sessions – Road User Psychology; Publicity & Social Media and Public Health – and linking all three is our desire for conference to help us all bridge the gap between evidence and practice.
“With this in mind, we’ve asked all speakers to spell out what they believe is the practical value of their presentation – perhaps presented as key points or actions delegates could undertake after conference if they feel inspired by what they’ve heard.
“We’ve also encouraged speakers to spend a proportion of their presentation describing either the evidence base for their project, or their methods for assessing the evidence resulting from their project or work if no evidence existed at the outset.
“Evidence and real world application – these are our foundation stones for National Conference 2016.”
There will be a series of live reports from the conference hall on this newsfeed throughout the two days, from the time the conference commences at 1.00pm on Tuesday 15 November.
