Road Safety GB invites nominations for Lynda Chalker Award

Tuesday 18th July 2017

Road Safety GB is inviting nominations for the 2017 Lynda Chalker Award, which recognises individuals or organisations that have contributed significantly to road safety in the UK.

The award, Road Safety GB’s annual opportunity to recognise an outstanding contribution to road safety, will be presented at the 2017 National Road Safety Conference in Manchester on 14-15 November.

Lynda Chalker (now the Baroness Chalker of Wallasey), who was transport minister in the mid-1980s, presented LARSOA (now Road Safety GB) with a carriage clock to be used for the Award when she moved to a new post in overseas development.

Three Lynda Chalker Awards were presented at the 2016 National Conference in Bristol - only the second year the accolade has been awarded since 2012 - with Rob Tillier, Linda Kennedy and Tina Housego the recipients (pictured).

Nominations must be made by a third party, and supported by two others - self nominations will not be accepted.

The 2017 nomination form is now available to download and the deadline for nominations is 5pm on 25 September.

For more information about the Lynda Chalker Award please contact Judith Billingham, Road Safety GB secretary, by email or on 01225 701970.
