Challenge event proves popular with young drivers

09.56 | 7 August 2009 |

Around 150 young drivers attended the first ‘No More Lives Wasted’ driver challenge event at Donington Park, organised by Derby City Council’s road safety team.

No More Lives Wasted is a campaign formed by eight local authorities in the East Midlands to reduce the number of casualties among the region’s young drivers.

Delegates took part in a range of activities designed to make them think about their attitudes and approach to driving. These included hazardous manoeuvres such as skidding and cornering, the dangers posed by distraction and theoretical sessions covering drink/driving and collision investigation.
