‘Don’t drink like a fish’, campaign says

South Yorkshire Police and the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership have launched a month long winter drink and drug driving enforcement and publicity campaign.

South Yorkshire Police will target drivers at all times of the day, focusing particularly on the evening and first thing in the morning. As part of the campaign road traffic officers will invite drivers to voluntarily take a breath test as a way of educating them and reinforcing the drink drive message.

The accompanying advertising campaign is aimed particularly at young male drivers. It encourages them not to ‘drink like a fish’, using the slogan: ‘A fish could drink all day but would never dream of driving’.
