FirstCar offers personalised content to road safety teams

Ahead of its next print run on 1 June, FirstCar is offering road safety teams the opportunity to add personalised content to magazines handed out to learner drivers at test centres in their area.

FirstCar works with the DVSA to provide theory and practical test candidates with a 52-page magazine, with more than two million copies published annually. The magazines are given directly to every new driver by theory and practical test examiners.

The personalisation offer includes a bespoke four-page centrefold section, with the content determined by the local road safety team. FirstCar provides an editorial and design service to advise and produce the pages to the required specification.

The offer also includes a logo and box-out on the cover which can be used to highlight a feature in the centrefold section, such as a competition, or to promote a strap-line and/or web link.

Participating authorities also have access to evaluation in the form of FirstCar’s ongoing reader survey.

James Evans, FirstCar founder, said: “We’ve worked with a number of road safety teams in West Mercia, Manchester, Essex, Cambridgeshire and London boroughs who have all seen the benefits of offering a customised magazine with local information and links to services or further reading.

“Our goal is to make the magazine as useful as possible for readers and there is no better way to do this than by including localised information and signposting.

“The cost of producing the magazine is covered by advertising revenue, so the only costs to road safety teams are for the design, print and binding of the additional pages, which equates to approximately 15-20p per copy.”
