‘In-vest’ in road safety campaign

11.03 | 23 October 2009 |

Mayo County Council and Garda Siochana have teamed up to encourage pedestrians and cyclists to make sure that they can be clearly seen at night.

The partners are distributing hi-visibility vests at Garda stations around the county and all Garda cars are carrying a stock of the vests to give out to poorly lit pedestrians and cyclists.

Noel Gibbons, Mayo’s RSO, said: “We are delighted that Gardai are handing out the high-visibility vests because it helps to hammer home our Be Safe, Be Seen message.”
