A new app has been launched to enable parents to access information and advice about drug issues via iPhone and iPad.

Know Drugs – the Parents Guide’ contains detailed information about illegal drugs and ‘legal highs’, and video based guidance for parents on dealing with drugs issues.

The app has been designed by Liam Watson from the training agency Drugstraining.com, following discussions with parents of teenagers.

Earlier this year, Liam Watson delivered a drug driving awareness workshop for road safety professionals, following new drug driving legislation which was introduced in March 2015.

The app includes a full guide to the effects of different drugs, slang terms and the key signs for parents to look out for with their teenagers. There is also a range of videos where former drug users give their experiences of using various substances including cocaine, cannabis and ecstasy.

The video question and answer section is presented by the actress and television presenter, Nicola Reynolds. The app also features a step by step video guide for parents on what to do if their son or daughter has collapsed after taking drugs.

Liam Watson said: “For many parents the world of drugs can appear frightening and confusing. With new drugs and ‘legal highs’ appearing on the market every week it’s no surprise that parents often feel that their kids know more about drugs than they do.

“The Know Drugs app provides parents with regularly updated information about the drugs, signs to look out for and important tips on both educating and supporting their teenagers.

“For the first time parents can now have all the vital information they require about drugs in the palm of their hand.”
