Road safety teams are reminded that the deadline to enter the inaugural FirstCar Young Driver Road Safety Awards is 20 February 2015.

FirstCar has launched this new awards scheme to recognize road safety professionals’ commitment and efforts to reduce casualties among young drivers. The awards will be presented at the Young Driver Focus 2015 event in London on 15 April.

The three awards categories for 2015 are: Education and training initiative of the year; Partnership scheme of the year; and Young driver campaign of the year.

The judging panel comprises: Bill Pope (DVSA), Alan Kennedy (Road Safety GB), Tracey Fuller (Arval), David Davies (PACTS) and Tim Lennon (DfT).

James Evans, publisher of FirstCar, said: “Despite several years of tight financial constraints and very limited resources, there is some great work being carried out locally, regionally and nationally and we are keen to give that work the recognition it deserves.

“That’s why we’ve launched the FirstCar Young Driver Road Safety Awards which we hope will become an annual event.”
