Schools take part in Walk to School Week

Schools throughout South Lanarkshire took part in Walk to School Week (18-22 May).

This year’s theme was ‘walking together’ and the idea was to encourage children and parents to enjoy the social aspect of walking to school together – while also gaining benefits to their health, learning about road safety and taking a positive action to reduce pollution. Posters were designed with the strapline ‘Walk ‘n’ Talk’ to reinforce the message.

Councillor John Murray, said: “Walk to School Week is an important fixture in the road safety calendar. It’s a great opportunity to reflect on the way in which we travel and take the opportunity to choose a safe and healthy mode of transport.”
