The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) will stage a ‘Crash Live’ event next month in a bid to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on roads across Aberdeenshire.
SFRS says Crash Live is aimed at all ages and will involve firefighters speaking about the ‘difficult and traumatic’ work they do at the scene of a road traffic collision. There will also be a ‘live simulation’ showing the aftermath of a serious road traffic collision, and SFRS’s response to such an incident.
Chay Ewing, SFRS station manager, said: “The purpose of this event is to highlight the consequences of road traffic collisions and how they affect families of those involved as well as the businesses that employ them.
“Our aim is to highlight to key local employers the role that they can perform in changing the attitudes of the road users in Aberdeenshire and help reduce the numbers of people who are killed or seriously injured on our roads.
“Such incidents can result in a loss in productivity through staff shortfalls due to sickness but also be costly to employers as well as employees.”
The event is being held in Inverurie on Saturday 5 September.
