SCP competition extended

A popular competition to recognise and reward some of the country’s longest-serving school crossing patrols (SCP) has been extended until later this month.

Under the competition, which is being run by the SCP uniform supplier Keltic Clothing, the longest-serving SCP in each region will be presented with a bottle of champagne and a long-service badge, and each member of their team will receive a STOP cupcake. The competition has already attracted more than 100 entries.

The deadline for entries has been extended until after the National Road Safety Conference in Brighton on 25-26 November. Keltic Clothing is exhibiting at the conference and will use the event as a final reminder to encourage road safety teams to enter the competition.

John Barry, managing director of Keltic Clothing, said: "We are all so excited to present the prizes to the winning patrols, and learn a little bit more about their working lives and their history.

“We hope that, in a small way, it will give some well-deserved recognition to what we consider to be an integral part of road safety as well as great British heritage."

Road safety teams can enter the competition by simply emailing the name of their longest serving SCP, along with the number of years served, to: SCP@kelticclothing.co.uk. The nomination must come from a local authority email address.

For more information about the competition contact Louise Bennett at Keltic Clothing on 08450 666699.
