Welsh police forces launch ‘morning after’ drink/drug campaign

11.34 | 2 June 2010 |

The four police forces in Wales have launched a summer drink and drug drive campaign to remind drivers of the potential dangers of driving the morning after consuming alcohol.

The launch event included a display dispelling some popular myths surrounding alcohol and information on drugs, and Gwent Police’s substance misuse team were on hand to advice about drug and alcohol related problems.

Penny Thorpe, principal RSO with Capita Symonds said: “Drink driving is still a big factor in road casualty statistics in Wales.

“With the barbeque season here people may be tempted or even encouraged to have a drink before driving, this could have tragic consequences.

“We are particularly concerned if they are still affected the morning after, even though they may feel OK to drive.”
