2019 National Conference – agenda complete but bedrooms in short supply

07.46 | 1 October 2019 | |

The agenda for the 2019 National Road Safety Conference is virtually complete – and comprises 44 presentations, discussion sessions and workshops, delivered by 51 presenters and facilitators.

However, with more than 260 people already registered to attend, there are only a handful of bedrooms still available at the on site hotels – and anyone who is intending to come is encouraged to book as soon as possible.

Organised by Road Safety GB and co-sponsored by Insure the Box, Jenoptik and DENSO, the 11th running of the National Conference takes place at Telford International Centre on 12-13 November.

The 2019 conference will follow a similar format to previous years, with both a main and fringe programme running concurrently. Topics covered on the main agenda include grassroots road safety, behavioural change and 20mph limits.

Speed dating – which comprise a series of five minute presentations from road safety practitioners – returns for a second year, as does Question Time, a feature of National Conference for several years.

There are also a number of new initiatives – including an informal chat show style session on the closing afternoon, with:

  • Edmund King OBE, president, AA
  • Lembit Opik, director of communications and public affairs, Motorcycle Action Group (MAG)
  • Sally Lines OBE, chief executive, Road Safety Trust

On the final afternoon, delegates will also have the option to attend one of a series of workshops which will run in tandem with the main conference programme.

In addition, 25 organisations have signed up to participate in the exhibition which runs alongside the conference.

Delegate registration – residential places at a premium
As previously stated, there are only a handful of bedrooms still available at the three on site hotels. As such anyone who is intending to come as a residential delegate should book as soon as possible if they want to be accommodated on site.

The full residential fee is £355 for Road Safety GB/Academy members, and £445 for other attendees – and includes all conference sessions, refreshments throughout the two days, overnight accommodation and the conference dinner.

Day delegate places are available for both or either day, from £105 (all prices plus VAT).

Click here to book a place to attend, or for more information contact Sally Bartrum (delegate registration) or Nick Rawlings (agenda/speakers etc) on 01379 650112.
