$7.5m payout reminds fleets of cost of mobile phone crashes

UK organisations have been told to ensure they have robust policies, processes and procedures in place relating to the use of mobile communication devices in vehicles after a $7.5m settlement in the United States following a fatal road crash (Driving for better business newsletter).

Dr Will Murray, research director of  Interactive Driving Systems, said: “All organisations requiring their people to drive on work business, irrespective of vehicle ownership, should have robust policies, processes and procedures in place regarding the use of mobile communication devices – including those provided by the organisations and any personally owned devices.”
