Ambitious plans for Bike Week

Hundreds of events across the UK during Bike Week (15-23 June) will offer tips and advice designed to feed Britain’s ‘growing love for cycling’, as well as inspiring new and lapsed cyclists who want to fall back in love with cycling.

Bike Week is the UK’s largest mass participation cycling event. The organisers say that research shows that at least four in 10 people now cycle, and that they hope to capitalise on the Government’s plans for improved infrastructure and training to help to get as many people as possible back on two wheels this summer.

Andre Curtis, Bike Week, said: “With the Olympic glory of last summer, the new Government plans and more cycling solutions for every budget we anticipate that this year will be the biggest year ever for bikes, with more people than ever falling in love with cycling.

“But many haven’t been on a bike for years and simply don’t know where to start, or if they have a bike, might have no idea how to get it back in working order. That’s where Bike Week can help. It’s the perfect opportunity for everyday cyclists to get advice or be inspired by taking part in a led ride.

“Our Dr Bikes can help with problems that are easy to mend and will provide guidance on when and where to spend locally for a professional fix.”
