Bradford Council is harnessing the power of connected vehicle data, extracted using AI techniques, to anticipate collisions before they happen.
The KSI prediction modelling technology has been developed by RoadTrace, the connected vehicle data division of Aisin.
It processes and enriches connected vehicle data intelligence to support decision-making across the full range of highways functions, including safety, planning, asset management and maintenance.
The development has been described as a major step forward for the West Yorkshire Vision Zero partnership, and Bradford’s Vision Zero Implementation Strategy, showing how local highways authorities are adopting advanced connected vehicle insights.
A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “RoadTrace provides enriched connected vehicle data and predictive insights that go far beyond raw datasets, giving every part of our highways service a common evidence base to make better decisions.
“With Aisin’s support and integration into our systems, Bradford is leading the way in data-driven safety, planning and asset management.”
The agreement follows a successful collaboration with Calderdale Council, the first authority in the region to work with RoadTrace.
The approach has been independently validated through an internationally recognised ITS white paper.
