Brake launches Giant Walking Bus 2013

Brake has unveiled plans for the 2013 Giant Walking Bus event, which it predicts will attract thousands of primary school children from across the country.

The Giant Walking Bus, which this year will take place on 12 June, is one of Brake’s flagship events. Now in its ninth consecutive year, it is a great way for schools to raise awareness of road safety and to encourage drivers to slow down in their local communities. It also encourages participants to get out of their cars and enjoy walking to and from school.

Brake says: “Kids take part in this giant march for a giant reason: to say no to driving fast, and yes to walking.

“The UK has a poor record for protecting children on foot compared to many of our European neighbours. Half our kids are driven to school, increasing pollution and danger, and affecting health.

“It doesn’t matter if your march has five kids or 500, you can make a difference. All schools taking part get a free resource pack to help them promote road safety.”
