Charity launches bereavement DVD

A Yorkshire-based charity has produced a DVD highlighting families struggling to come to terms with the death and destruction caused by ‘careless road users’.

‘Scarred For Life’, produced by SCARD (Support & Care after Road Death or Injury) and CADD (Campaign against Drink Driving), will be launched in September. The not for profit charity will facilitate presentations delivered by bereaved victims of road death in schools, colleges, youth clubs, prison reform groups and the armed forces.

Carole Whittingham, founder of SCARD and secretary of CADD, said: “I lost my son, Steven, 17 years ago. The car he was in was hit by a stolen car being driven at 80mph in a 30mph area by two drunken drugged youths.

“My aim is to prevent anybody else going through the same agony. That’s why we do these presentations and that’s why I wanted the new DVD to pull no punches.”
