Devon’s road safety team has published a report which reviews evidence on education, training and publicity for young and emerging drivers.

The report, ‘A review of the evidence on education, training and publicity for young and emerging drivers: implications for practice’, is the second conducted as part of Devon’s Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with the University of Plymouth.

The report examines the evidence regarding whether education, training and publicity increases young drivers’ safety on the roads, and the way that young driver services might develop in order to improve outcome effectiveness.

Nigel Flower, RSO, said: “The report is going to be really helpful in identifying future work addressing young driver safety and ways that we can improve products and services in line with its recommendations.”

The KTP project is designed to help Devon’s road safety team develop a clear evidence base for its next long term strategy. The next theme that will be examined is ‘at work’ drivers.
