The Department for Transport (DfT) has announced the start of the grant bidding process for Bikeability training delivery for the period April 2012 to March 2015.

The Bikeability scheme is now being managed and delivered by Steer Davies Gleave on behalf of the DfT, and there are a number of changes to grant terms and conditions from April 2012 onwards. Grant bids will now cover the three financial years between April 2012 and March 2015, subject to review and the signing of a new grant agreement each year. Joint bids from Local Highway Authorities and SGOHS are preferred and encouraged by the DfT.

DfT funding for Bikeability training is expected to remain at £11m per financial year between April 2012 and March 2015, and at £40 per training place. While funding will not be increased the DfT says it will ‘allow for more flexible use of the grant’.

The closing date for applications is 16 January 2012. Click here for grant guidance notes, or click here for a grant application form.
