Dual purpose road safety resource for pupils and parents

A new dual-purpose road safety resource has been released for parents and their children who have just started primary school.

‘Starting school’, produced by Room 9 Media, consists of an A4 newsletter, aimed at parents, which then opens up into an A2 illustrated road safety poster for children to complete with their parents.

Both the poster and newsletter cover a wide range of road safety topics including the importance of holding hands, ‘stop, look and listen’, safer crossing places and in-car safety.

For parents there is advice and information on issues such as route planning, mobile phone use while driving, school gate parking and the benefits of walking as a means of getting to and from school.

Room 9 Media says the resource is "based on solid research".

John Billington, founder of Room 9 Media, said: “We’ve combined information for parents with an interactive poster which gives both parents and thier children of reception age the opportunity to think and learn about their safe journey to school.”
