Enhanced crash detection App launched at bike show

Following months of development, a new version of the REALRIDER® crash detection App was launched at Motorcycle Live 2013 at the NEC (23 Nov – 1 Dec).

REALRIDER’s innovative technology (REALsafe®) automatically detects if a rider has had a crash and contacts the ambulance service with the rider’s last known location and medical details.

The App is the brainchild of Andrew Richardson and Zoe Farrington who’ve spent a decade developing and delivering award-winning products for the motorcycle marketplace including Great Roads Great Rides 1 & 2 for the Highways Agency.

The new version of REALRIDER® – for iPhone and Android – includes a redesign of the App’s interface to provide easier navigation through the rider-centric features, improved performance, and the ability to run the App in the background.

Andrew Richardson said: “We started working with the NHS back in early 2011 and our REALsafe® technology is the first of its kind to be integrated into the NHS Ambulance Control Room Network.

“We also launched a version of the App for our insurance partner Devitts at Motorcycle Live. This means that all 80,000 of their existing and new policyholders will benefit from being ‘REALsafe®’ when riding their motorcycles.”

I applaud anything that will assist a rider in the event of an incident, accident, collision especially when there may not be any other parties that can make contact with the emergency services. Unfortunately I am a dinosaur when it comes to modern phones and computers so I won’t be assisted by this new technology. Just have to keep riding as safely as I can.
