Motorcycle film on schedule for July release

A new safety film aimed at motorcycle commuters is on schedule for release at the end of July, and a trailer of the film is viewable online now.

‘The Commuter Survival Guide for Motorcyclists’, produced by Fused, will provide practical tips and guidance for biking commuters aged 20-50 years. The film is designed to plug the gap in resources for road safety practitioners and trainers to use when engaging with the commuter rider.

Filmed on location in a busy UK city centre, the film will feature a range of roads including central motorways, major ring roads, busy city streets and arterial ‘A’ roads.
 
Nick Todd of Fused said: “June was a busy month for the commuter biker project team. With glorious sunshine throughout the shoot, there were plenty of situations that tested the skills of our riders, creating some excellent footage and commentary.

"New HD camera technology meant that we were able to capture footage from several camera angles (including from the air) at any one time. As a result, the audience can view fresh perspectives on approaches to junctions, overtaking manoeuvres and filtering techniques that provide many opportunities for further discussion, especially in a training environment or as part of a ride course."

A new feature for the production has been created using real footage which is stripped back and then redrawn to demonstrate the planning and positioning process. The sequences enhance elements seen in Roadcraft but with the added benefit of morphing back into live footage.

The program is split into three main sections – planning, positioning and filtering. Within each section are scenarios with commentary in a similar format to the Great Roads Great Rides series but now with detailed analysis and graphics to demonstrate issues such as blind spot areas and safety zones.

A bonus section sees outrider negotiating the city rush hour on a Piaggio scooter while dealing with the situation control, positioning and the process of filtering.
