Young drivers across South Yorkshire are being encouraged to improve their driving skills and knowledge by attending ‘Drive for Life’.
The project, provided by the South Yorkshire Casualty Reduction Partnership and part funded by the DfT, is free to all 17-24 year olds.
The two-hour interactive programme provides information to enable drivers to make sensible and safe decisions when out on the roads.
Issues such as having the correct documentation, speed, drink/drug driving, wearing seatbelts, and distractions are some of the important areas covered.
A spokesperson said: “Young drivers are over represented in collisions on our roads and this initiative aims to raise their road safety awareness and help them to avoid becoming a statistic.
“Several driving instructors actively support the project and regularly encourage pupils to attend. We would be pleased to see others following their example.”
