There’s a new ‘Sheriff’ in town

00.00 | 30 November 2011 |

The launch of the, York & North Yorkshire Road Safety Partnership’s new ‘Seatbelt Sheriff’ campaign took place at Brompton Community Primary School, Northallerton on 7 January.

The campaign targets children aged 7-11 years old in order to encourage them to ‘buckle up’ and use ‘pester power’ on their parents.

At the launch the sheriff was introduced to pupils who were then ’sworn in’ as deputies. All Key Stage 2 children received a Warrant Of Office, a Seatbelt Sheriff Safety Saloon leaflet, a pencil and a seatbelt cover.

The Seatbelt Sheriff will appear at schools across the county and at road safety events throughout 2009.
