New resource will help reduce crashes involving at-work drivers

A new free to use benchmarking tool has been launched in a bid to help reduce crashes involving at-work drivers. (Newspress)

The fleet safety benchmarking tool enables employers across the public, private and voluntary sectors to measure their at-work road safety performance against a wide-range of other organisations.

The tool uses 30 questions to examine an employer’s current practices across six key areas: road safety management; organisational leadership; journey and mobility management; driver recruitment and management; vehicle selection and management; and corporate, community and supply chain road safety.

Once the data is input, a report provides feedback including averages determined from information provided by other users.

Having analysed how a specific fleet compares with other users, participants can access a wealth of resources to enable existing policies to be updated and new risk management solutions introduced.

The benchmarking tool is suitable for use across a wide range of vehicle types including company cars, motorcycles, light commercial vehicles, HGVs, minibuses, buses and privately-owned cars driven on business trips.
