Liverpool City Council has launched a new online road safety resource targeting primary school children in Years 4, 5 and 6.
The ‘Benji’ website is aiming to raise awareness of local road safety hazards and how to cope with them.
It contains road safety information split into three main areas:
• The kids’ page includes interactive games, videos made by primary school children and a blog by Benji, Liverpool’s road safety mascot.
• The schools’ page comprises lesson plans designed against the national curriculum and printer friendly worksheets.
• The parents’ page provides hints and tips that parents can use to help them and their children stay safe when walking, riding or driving.
The website also has all the information a school would need to run Liverpool’s ‘Our Walk to School’ project.
Although the project is targeted at schools within Liverpool, road safety teams from other local authorities have access the site and are welcome to promote it within their schools.
