A road safety play touring South Lanarkshire highlights every motorist’s worst nightmare – the backseat driver.

The play, Urban Roadeo, targets road users aged 55 and over and raises awareness of issues affecting drivers and pedestrians as they grow older.

It focuses on Jack Dawson, who is retired, his wife Lesley, her mother Davina and their 10-year-old granddaughter. The audience witnesses first hand how Jack copes when pitted against his know-all mother-in-law in a battle of wits and general driving knowledge.

Councillor John Murray, said: “The play is an extremely effective and entertaining way of getting across an important message to our more experienced road users.”
