Rhyming for road safety

00.00 | 30 November 2011 |

Students from across Leicestershire have come up with snappy road safety slogans to persuade speeding drivers to slow down.

After watching the ‘Legal Weapon’ road safety play, the young people took part in a workshop and were asked to come up with a slogan for the county’s community speedwatch initiative – a scheme where local volunteers monitor speeding drivers and forward details to the police.

The winning entry, ‘Having a blast doesn’t involve driving fast’, was penned by 17-year-old James Hughes from Longslade School in Birstall. James’ slogan has been used on a promotional banner which will be used around the county.
