Driving instructors are receiving tips from Richmond Council to encourage them to spread road safety messages to young people.
10 driving instructors were shown current road safety education programmes covering subjects including drink and drug driving, vulnerable road users and speeding. As well as road safety training, they were given advice on building their business and surviving the recession.
Nick Dunn, one of the instructors who took part in the programme, said: “The course was well-designed and this is a useful way of educating young people. The programme was very beneficial and I also came away with listening and management tips.”
Sam Merison, principal safety education officer, added: “it was great to see the level of engagement from the ADIs. They really do represent our best chance of getting relevant messages to new drivers as they have a captive audience.”
