The number of people following the Road Safety GB twitter feed has more than doubled in the past 18 months.
The Road Safety GB twitter feed is managed by Iain Temperton and Matt Staton, road safety team leaders for Norfolk and Cambridgeshire respectively.
The feed had 3,000 followers in March 2013, but by August 2014 this number had increased to more than 7,000.
Iain Temperton and Matt Staton will deliver a presentation at the National Road Safety Conference in November 2014, during which they will outline the pros and cons of using social media in a professional capacity. They will also examine the contrast between using social media as an individual, a local road safety team/partnership and a national organization, and will also offer some useful tools to make life a bit easier.
While not professing to be experts in the use of social media, Iain and Matt both have a number of years’ experience using various platforms in a personal and professional capacity, including managing the Road Safety GB twitter feed.
