New software has been launched in the UK to “enable employers to proactively promote safe and legal use of mobile devices while employees are driving at work”.
The product, FleetSafer™, is designed to prevent the unlawful use of mobile phones while driving by automatically disabling the phone and other nominated communication devices including smartphones and tablets as soon as the vehicle begins to move.
As the name suggests, FleetSafer™ is aimed at corporate users and the settings can be configured around the organisation’s ORR (occupational road risk) policy. The company behind the software, Eye’s-Up, says it has “full audit capability and visibility of any violations”, but is fundamentally designed to eliminate the risk and dangers associated with using mobile phones while in a vehicle.
The software requires no installation and is downloaded directly to a mobile phone; the Eye’s Up website includes a short video explaining how FleetSafer™ works.
Kevin Tillotson, business development director for Eyes-Up, said: “Eyes-Up is committed to helping our customers implement the very best solutions to address distracted driving.
“Fleetsafer is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions to help commercial fleet operators measure and manage employee use of phones while driving company vehicles.”
Eyes-Up is offering a free trial to the first 25 enquiries – to apply for this or for further information contact Mike McGarrigle at Eyes-Up on 01761 451066.
How would this overcome the problem of the driver using his personal phone rather than the company one?
