Speeding motorist jailed over lies

13.03 | 14 August 2009 |

A speeding motorist has been jailed for 28 days after being found guilty of perverting the course of justice.

Tallat Raja provided a false name and address to Kent Police after receiving a speeding ticket from a safety camera in Canterbury. However, Kent Police tracked him down using a previous criminal record, DNA intelligence and fingerprints.

Sentencing Mr Raja, Judge Carey of Maidstone Crown Court said: “It is without question that this offence required a custodial sentence so that it deters other motorists from trying to do the same.”
