Spooky reminder for RSOs

With Halloween fast approaching, road safety officers are reminded that the award winning Ghost Street initiative is ideal to help deliver a seasonal safety message to teenagers.

‘Be afraid. Be very afraid’: that is the message behind Ghost Street, a support resource for schools designed to raise awareness of key road safety issues among 12 -16 year olds, in a spookily engaging way.

Focusing on areas of road safety that particularly impact on this age group, from distractions and cycle safety to speed and seatbelts, the main feature of the Ghost Street resource pack is a DVD film bearing the trademark scary movie tricks and techniques that teenagers enjoy.

Developed by Newcastle City Council and supported by Road Safety GB, Ghost Street was winner of the Best Drama category at the Royal Television Society Awards and received four nominations in the IVCA (International Visual Communications Association) Awards.
