Road Safety GB North West region is having a winter sale of its bi-lingual ‘Teddy Takes a Walk’ booklet.
Teddy Takes a Walk focuses on the issue of child safety as a pedestrian, with ‘Teddy’ and his owner and friend ‘Billy’ taking a walk from home to school. The story highlights some of the issues for discussion by parents and carers on any similar journey.
The winter sale features the bi-lingual (Welsh and English) version of the Teddy Takes a Walk booklet which is being offered with a discount of 17% off the normal price, bringing the cost down to 25p per booklet.
Paul Birch, treasurer of Road Safety GB North West region, said: “Teddy prices are taking a tumble in our first ever winter sale.
“This is a great chance for road safety teams to purchase a 40 page, full colour Welsh and English booklet that has a serious road safety message for parents and carers – and, of course, the children themselves.
“The booklet makes a great Christmas stocking filler or can be saved and used to support ‘Walk to School’ weeks in spring and summer 2015.”
The winter sale ends on 17 December or whenever the supply of 9,000 booklets has been sold. Road safety teams can purchase a single box of 250 booklets for £62.50, or any other quantity.

I would highly recommend Teddy Takes a Walk. We have used the story to great effect as part of our Year 1 Road Safety programme over the past few years. The chidren love the story and it is well received by teachers and parents alike. The book is a great way of also getting key messages home to the parents and siblings.
