THINK! team hosts lively seminar on Academy website

The THINK! campaign team answered 13 questions in a lively seminar on the Academy website earlier today (18 Dec).

Dawn Lauder, head of campaigns, and other team members were on hand to answer Academy members’ questions about the THINK! campaign strategy and plans for 2014 and beyond.

The questions covered a wide range of topics  from the practicality of sharing information with RSOs about THINK! campaigns at an earlier stage, to tips about the use of social media to communicate road safety message.

Phil Smith from Derbyshire CC asked about feedback following the ‘Let’s Look Out for Each Other’ cycling campaign earlier this year. In response the team confirmed that cycling will form part of 2014/15 plans, probably in the form of PR and partnership activity. In response to a question from Iain Watson at Suffolk CC about whether the team favoured ‘blood and guts’ approach or ‘positive educational messages’, the team said it assesses this on a ‘case by case basis’, but is aware of research that suggests that ‘shock tactics may not always be effective’.

In answer to a question about upcoming THINK! resources, the team said there are plans for a new a ‘web to print’ service that will allow road safety officers to localise campaign collateral, more details of which should be available in the New Year.

Academy members can see all of the questions and answers by visiting this page on the Academy website: http://www.roadsafetygb.org.uk/academy/pages/seminar-think.html

Since its introduction in July 2013, the monthly online seminar programme has proved popular with Academy members. The seminars are free and open to all members, and questions can be submitted in advance or during the session.
