Steve Barry joined Sussex Police at the start of his career in 1993. He has predominantly worked in uniform policing across all parts of Sussex and more recently has focused on specialist operational policing such as roads, firearms and public order.

In his role as a chief officer, he was responsible for specialist operations across Surrey and Sussex as well as contact management across Sussex.

Steve is the national lead for police drones and also the national lead for police pursuits.

Recently, Steve joined the DfT to represent the National Police Chiefs’ Council on the joint DfT/Home Office Roads Policing Review.
