More dates confirmed for motorcycling course

RideSafe BackSafe and the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) are continuing with their North West Rider Assessment Days for 2011.

The one day course for motorcyclists incorporates an interactive ‘classroom-style’ morning session, an afternoon of ride-outs with local IAM observers and one-to-one assessments to help each motorcyclist improve their skill levels.

RideSafe BackSafe sees the courses as a practical route to self improvement.

Ian Marginson, spokesperson for the IAM, said: “The best way to improve your riding skills and take control of your riding environment is to learn from more experienced riders who are qualified assessors.

“Although we talk through hazard perception and observational skills as a part of the day, the most beneficial element of the course is the one-to-one rider assessments over a coffee after an observed ride. Every rider learns something new and there is no test involved.”
