The 2013 Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards scheme is now open for nominations.
This year, the awards will be presented under five categories which are based on the five pillars of the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety. They are: road safety management; safer roads; safer vehicles; safer road users; and post crash response.
In 2012, the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) picked up the much acclaimed ‘Premier Award’. NDORS, operated by all UK police forces, offers a diversion from prosecution into driver education for motorists who have committed a low level offence.
Nominations are open to any team, organisation, or business and must be made by 5 August 2013.

Idris: I moderated your post because, in my judgement, a large part of it did not relate to the story itself. There are occasions on this newsfeed where posts are made to put forward a personal view or agenda that does not relate to the story or the discussion thread. We try and weed out these posts.

Dave, Nick Rawlings edited out the relevant part of my response, probably because Road Safety GB does not approve of my current project which, who knows, might even win me an Award! Not here of course.

Well done Idris, not sure how that relates to road safety though?

Dave – I won a Queens Award for Export Achievement in 1992, so how could I follow that?

Idris, if you’ve done some work which you think qualifies then I’m sure Roadsafe will be pleased to receive your nomination along with the others. If you haven’t then perhaps it’s something to work towards.

No category for whistle-blowers?
