Peter Rollings – obituary

15.41 | 14 January 2011 |

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent sudden death of Peter Rollings, Wolverhampton Council’s cycling development officer.

Peter came to work for Wolverhampton Council in 2002 to manage the child cyclist training programme.  Over the following years Peter developed his area of work to encompass adult cyclist training, cyclist instructor training, and cycle maintenance training.  He became an authority whose specialist skills and knowledge were sought nationwide.

Peter was known by his colleagues for being caring, honest and hard-working.  A consummate networker, he had a talent for communicating with people in all walks of life by his down-to-earth manner, and had an extraordinary ability to attract support for projects.  He was motivated by the simple desire to use activities such as cycling and football to enhance the lives and achievements of children and adults from all parts of the community.

Peter had many friends and colleagues throughout the local community and will be sorely missed.  He is survived by his wife Marcelle and his children Pascale and Dominic.  Our thoughts are with them all at this most distressing time.
