Delegate registration is open for the 2020 National Road Safety Conference, with an attractive early bird rate for Road Safety GB and Academy members.
The 12th running of National Conference, Road Safety GB’s flagship event, takes place at The Majestic Hotel in Harrogate on 10-11 November.
Delegate registration opened on Monday, with the initial allocation of 50 early bird places snapped up in under 24 hours.
An extra 25 early bird places were released on Wednesday – at a cost of £295 (plus VAT) to Road Safety GB and Academy members, a limited number of which remain available.
Meanwhile, registration has also opened for the exhibition which runs alongside the conference, with prices starting from £725 (plus VAT). Seven 2019 exhibitors have already re-booked to attend in 2020.
Early bird delegate places and exhibition places are being allocated on a strictly ‘first come, first served’ basis.
National Conference returns to Harrogate
2020 will be the second time National Conference has been held in Harrogate, with the 2013 event also staged at the same venue.
Since then, Road Safety GB’s flagship event has grown in size and stature – with the 2019 edition at the Telford International Centre attracting more than 320 delegates across the two days.
The Majestic has recently benefited from a £15 million pound refurbishment, completed just before the end of 2019, and is now formally known as the DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate.
The hotel is one of Harrogate’s landmark buildings, sitting in landscaped gardens overlooking the beautiful North Yorkshire spa town. It is within walking distance of shopping, dining and historical attractions and a comfortable 10-minute walk from the bus and train stations. There is plentiful onsite car parking.
For the National Conference, Road Safety GB has secured total occupancy of The Majestic’s 184 bedrooms, with overflow rooms in an adjacent hotel.
Changes to the programme
The 2020 National Conference is being organised by a committee drawn from the Road Safety GB Yorkshire and Humberside Region. The conference committee met for the first time on 13 January in Harrogate.
Following feedback from 2019 National Conference attendees, the decision has been taken to start the conference earlier on day one (11am on 10 Nov – subject to final confirmation) – and finish immediately after lunch on day two (11 Nov), with a series of optional workshops in the afternoon.
In view of this, there is the option for attendees to book accommodation (B&B) at The Majestic the evening prior to the conference (9 Nov).
An outline of the topics to be covered on the agenda, and a call for papers, will be issued by mid-February.
